New Release – You and I the Universe by Diving Horse

Diving Horse are six people from Glasgow (Scotland) making music that moves between dance punk, indie rock and alternative.

“We have a huge New York influence from Talking Heads, LCD Soundsystem, The National and Yo La Tengo. We love to make music that you can dance to!”

Diving Horse have a new single, ‘You and I the Universe’, out 28th July. A pre-save is available here.

What’s the song about?

“This song is a story. The narrator hits his head and then can tap into all known versions of themselves across all realities. They then start to see how they are and how it affects their relationships.”

What inspired you to write this song?

“It was the movie ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’. After watching it the second time I was broken up. I thought about what it would feel like to tap into all these different versions of yourself that may exist out there where we can’t see. Hopefully you would be able to learn something about yourself, but ultimately I think you are who you are and those flaws that exist are present throughout all versions of yourself.”

How would you describe it?

“It has this really angular guitar, and the lyrics describe the existential problem with knowing all versions of yourself, but the rhythm is really pounding and popping – it reminds me of Fleetwood Mac. The keys bring a spacey dimension to the song but keep it very poppy too. That’s what I love about the band – there is always a light to go with the heavy stuff.”
