New Release – Waiting For The Summer To Fall by Atari Pilot
Atari Pilot are an indie rock band hailing from Swindon (UK) that creates anthemic music that speaks to and about the human experience. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Daft Punk, and Oasis, their sound is a unique fusion of classic rock and modern indie sensibilities.
“Expect soaring melodies, driving rhythms, and lyrics that contemplate who we are, who we are to each other and finding our place in the world. Our songs explore themes of love, loss, and self-discovery. We want to encourage our listeners to embrace their own journeys with courage, hope and kindness. Our mission is to create music that inspires and empowers.”
Their new single ‘Waiting For The Summer To Fall’ is out 16th September. Pre-save here.
What’s the song about?
“It’s about our relationship with change, seasons, time, trying to live in the moment whilst knowing that each moment or period of your life can’t stay the same. Sometimes we’re anxious about what is next and we want to cling on to things because we know and understand it and there’s a feeling of safety.”
“There’s a tension with change too, where you are asking yourself, are you ready? It’s like that moment on the rollercoaster before the big drop, sometimes you just have to hold on tight and close your eyes! :)”
What inspired you to write this song?
“I am blessed to have two children and they are growing up really fast, one is off to College, the other to High School so it really feels like our family is in a new phase.Things are going to be quite different in all kinds of ways and I think that was swirling around in the back of my mind subconsciously.”
“I’d had the tagline of “Waiting for the Summer To Fall” for a long time actually but this seemed to be the right idea for it to be used.”
“My wife also helped to inspire the musical style somewhat as she’d always have some europop playing round the house so you can hear a bit of an influence in the sound although our usual sound is very much present.”
“It was fun to have some different elements in there.”
What are you hoping to achieve with this release?
“It’s all about continuing to build out the world of Atari Pilot and our song library, so that when people discover us, they can really start to dive in and be absorbed. This is our fourth new release of the year. It’s really a legacy project, where in 5-10-15 years we can look back and say after having a second chance to embrace making this music we lived up to it’s promise and that our music is/was there for those who needed to hear to sometimes help make things make sense, including ourselves.”
“Every new song is another chance to make connections with people and that’s what it’s all about.”
Is there a story behind the cover artwork?
“I made the artwork using Canva. For every song I try to capture something about the essence or the theme of the song in the artwork. In this case you’ve got the clouds rolling in and the sun where’s it almost set and the words of the song title laid out in falling steps. It’s that feeling that things are ending and something else will follow.”
