New Release – Tinsel Heart by Demi Michelle

Demi releases an original Christmas song ‘Tinsel Heart’ on 24th November.

Do the lyrics of ‘Tinsel Heart’ have a special meaning to you?

“The lyrics are so special to me. What I love so much about writing original Christmas songs, is being able to share what Christmas means to me in several ways. ‘Tinsel Heart’ is my fourth holiday single, since I’ve made it a tradition to release an original one each year. Like my others, this song is autobiographical and gives a glimpse into how I feel about the holiday season.”

“Christmas is such a magical time of year, and even though it comes and goes, I try as hard as possible to keep the magic with me year round. During the holidays, I feel like there’s more joy and love than any other time of year. Also, putting up decorations makes the Christmas spirit shimmer in the air. Even though the holidays come to an end on New Year’s Day, that doesn’t mean the magic should go away too. So, I keep some decorations in my room year round, mostly elves and gingerbread men, which I love, but more importantly, I focus on sharing love and kindness every day, just as much as during Christmas time.”

“While writing the song, I came up with the title first and crafted the lyrics from there. I loved the image of a tinsel heart when it popped into my head, so I felt compelled to imagine the message and story I could create from the title. The lyrics capture the message through vivid imagery authentic to me and heartfelt thoughts that tie the story together with a glittery bow. During the song, I sing, “Nothing can dull the shine of my tinsel heart. It sparkles forever and ever. ‘Cause in my mind, it’s Christmas forever and ever.” These lyrics, along with the others that paint a picture and enhance this core message, really show how special this time of year is to me.”

What are you hoping to achieve with this release?

“I truly hope ‘Tinsel Heart’ inspires others to embrace the magic of the holiday season and find ways of keeping it all year round. From small acts of love and kindness to sipping hot chocolate on a summer night just because, there are countless ways all of us can hold on to the Christmas spirit. Every year during the holidays, I feel like the world is a brighter place, so when January comes, I’d love my listeners to allow their tinsel hearts to keep sparkling.”

When releasing a new song, is there a sense of excitement or panic?

“Even though I’ve been releasing music since 2019, I still feel both excited and nervous every time I release something new. The excitement will always be there, since I truly love songwriting and sharing my music with the world. Still, the nervousness comes from a place of wanting a release to be successful. Success looks different for everyone, but for me, and especially with ‘Tinsel Heart’, it’s less about achieving certain numbers and more about touching someone’s life in a meaningful way. I feel like the music industry is moving in a direction where statistics tend to dictate a song’s relevance, but in my opinion, music has always been about the human connection and expression. If ‘Tinsel Heart’ puts a smile on a listener’s face and brings extra magic to their holiday season, then I’ll be the happiest because that’s my goal.”
