New Release – Time of Our Lives by The Last Arcade

The Last Arcade are a brand new 80’s inspired synth pop and rock band from Liverpool, England. Born out of a love of 80’s music, classic analog synths and inspired by artists like Foreigner, Aha, Depeche Mode and Genesis as well as modern acts like The Midnight and The Weeknd, The Last Arcade feature a classic 80’s sound with a modern twist.

The Last Arcade are comprised of singer Ste McNally, guitarist Paul Garrett and synths / keyboardplayer Steve Erickson. Ste McNally shot to fame as part of the band BBMak and had a US number one with the single ‘Back Here’. Paul Garrett supported Bryan Adams on tour with his band 10 Reasons, and Steve Erickson has produced music for multiple bands and projects including Disney, BBMak, Sky TV and Andy McLusky of Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark.

The band fast made a name for themselves with their debut single ‘When We Were Young’, which quickly racked up over 50,000 streams on Spotify in it’s first month, and then went onto gain radio play on various stations around the world. The track later found it’s way onto in-store music playlists for popular retailers across Europe in stores such as Boots, Sainsbury’s, British Airways, Costa, and many others.

The band have since released six more singles – with each song finding placement on multiple Spotify playlists and gaining international radio play. Their new single ‘Time of Our Lives’ is the final single before the release of their debut album ‘Timelines’.

What’s the song about?

“‘Time of Our Lives’ is a song about growing up and the passage of time. From being a kid – when life is fun, easy and you have no responsibilities, through teenage years and those first time experiences – hanging out in the park, meeting girls and going on adventures, to growing up and dealing with love, loss and the importance of family and friendship.”

Do the lyrics have a special meaning to you?

“Absolutely. Before we settled on any of the lyrics, Ste, Paul and myself sat and talked about the things we wanted to cover in the song. We drew upon some of the experiences from our own lives that we wanted to mention and that’s really where the verses came from. Without going into too much detail – each verse covered a particular story from each of us. One of us had our parents split up when we were younger. Two of us have lost someone dear to us. And we all had a dad (and mum) who supported us and pushed us to succeed.”

Is the release accompanied with a music video?

“Yes, we have an accompanying video for the song. In the previous video for our single ‘Nobody Knows’ we shot the whole thing live action on location in a Liverpool Arcade. This time round we wanted to do something a bit more abstract and felt like a cartoon would be ideal. We decided to try our hand at AI and used a site called Kaiber AI which allowed us to create clips with text prompts and then have those clips synced to the music. It took a fair bit of patience and lot of experimentation but we feel like we managed to create something that really reflected the tone and story of the song.”

‘Time of Our Lives’ is out 25th August. A pre-save is available.
