New Release – Thousand Dollar Shoes by Postindustrial Poets ft. Atrip

‘Thousand Dollar Shoes’ will be out on 5th January. A pre-save is available. The song is a collaboration between Luxembourg based Postindustrial Poets and Atrip. Atrip is an electronic music producer from Argentina. Here’s what the Poets had to say about the upcoming new release.

What’s the song about?

“It is an affectionate look back on a relationship – reflecting on things you have in common and things that didn’t work. We think a lot of people will relate to it.”

Is it autobiographical?

“At least the impulse to write it was based on real events.”

When did you write it?

“In 2021. Initially the idea was to write new lyrics for an existing Atrip tune – a previous collaboration with Atrip was featured as a bonus track on the Cool Top 20 – chosen by Sean Buckley. But when the lyrics were written, it had turned into a completely new track. So it became a really interesting exercise – at one stage we had a vocal track and nothing else. We built the track up around it.”

Is this release different from your previous releases?

“Yes. It was great working with Atrip on this. In the past he has remixed a couple of our existing tracks. This time we put the thing together as a team. The arrangement is quite rootsy – with a prominent acoustic guitar part. And there is more emphasis on the vocals than usual. It was Atrip’s idea to strip the track down to just the vocals for the last few seconds. I don’t think we would have been brave enough to do it otherwise!”

“A trivial bit of continuity is that – like our last single ‘After Summer, the Fall’, a visit to Paris features strongly in the lyric. We’re hoping for some award from the French government now… “

When releasing a new single is there a sense of excitement or panic?

“Mostly panic but a bit of both!“

“This time we already have a video. It features shoes and Paris. We hope to make that niche our own. Our good friend Skylar Nevaeh is releasing a footwear song too, but hopefully she will stay away from Paris!”
