“You can die of a broken heart — it’s a scientific fact. The pain of an ended relationship is one that many people experience, maybe even more than once in a lifetime, people are seen to bounce back on TV and in books. But the truth is, it takes a long time it’s hard and sometimes you never really get over it.”

Pains in my Heart‘ is a new song by Pepe and the Bandits, available on 20 February.

“The song is about losing someone close, that special one, and wanting them back at any cost. I remember splitting with a girl once and then going back round the house “did I leave a pair of socks here” or any other excuse I could muster, just to see them. It messes with your head and makes you irrational, heartbreak does that to you, makes you do crazy things.”

“I wrote this at the beginning of the year. It has simple song lyrics – very catchy I’m told, but again, I don’t do normal, so it’s a little more upbeat than most heartbreak love songs and even has a pop/punk feel, with some electric slide guitar and some unusual sounds thrown in for good measure.”
