New Release – It Didn’t Feel Like the End of the World by Postindustrial Poets
Postindustrial Poets are the vehicle for the songs of Pete Poet – a Brit living in Luxembourg. They started recording in 2019, released their first track in 2020, which did well in the Cool Top 20, and didn’t get on stage until 2021 when COVID relaxed its grip.
Their latest track ‘It Didn’t Feel Like the End of the World’ will be out 18th August.
“The song was written just a few weeks ago, on a visit to Liverpool. It was scribbled down after an evening with friends on the Albert Dock. The conversation had covered the heatwave and a trip to Norway from the time before COVID. All of this found its way into the lyrics. Without wanting to get too heavy, it is about being in denial – both about the end of a relationship and climate change. It is a reaction to the British press talk about record temperatures as a reason to go to the beach.”
“Postindustrial Poets songs normally get played for a long while before being recorded. This time, the idea was to get it out as soon as possible – in fact it was recorded within two weeks of starting to write it. That’s because the intense heat of this summer is part of the track and Pete wanted to get it out before this became a memory. So the track has jumped the queue. There is another song that was meant to be the next single.”
“The track will almost certainly feature on the album that is on the way. And there may be some more releases from it before it arrives. But the track order is still reasonably fluid – the late arrival of this track has thrown things up in the air on that!”
“There is a video that will go live shortly after the track is released – and we have been sharing a clip from it.”
“The best part in making it was adding the slide guitar track. It starts quite quietly, but becomes the expressive musical element at the end. And we love our guitars!”
