New Release – I Should Know by Driving Blue

Formed in July 2022, Driving Blue is a Dublin (Ireland) based rock band, inspired by the blues, soul, RnB and Rock & Roll. Since their formation, they have been gigging around Ireland in venues such as The Grand Social, BelloBar, Fibber Magees and Juno, to name a few. Over the summer they performed at the IMMA outdoors festival and at Otherside festival in Slane. Their debut single, ‘Maybe Don’t’, was released in March 2023.

They are currently gearing up to release a series of new singles which, after being recorded in the singer Jess’s shed, will be released under the title ‘Shed Sessions’. The first of these singles ‘I Should Know’ is due for release on the 8th of December.

“We recently recorded a set of singles in the singer Jess’ garage in Dublin Ireland. Choosing the laid-back environment over a traditional studio, the band aimed for an unfiltered and live sound. ‘I Should Know’ is a song written roughly one year ago, and is the first to be released from these sessions.”

“We recorded it in September 2023. We mixed and mastered it ourselves.”

“We feel that this song is very different from our debut release ‘Maybe Don’t’ showing another side to our writing and performance. Its a heavier and darker song than ‘Maybe Don’t’, showing some of our other influences in genres such as rock, celtic, folk and blues.”

“It is a song about ego written from the perspective of somebody standing in the shadow of their own ego. The protagonist watches as the world around them slips into chaos and destruction due to their own insecurity and ego, and we hear the internal dialogue as the protagonist reacts and copes with this.It definitely has a special meaning to us. In a way the song refers to be being in a place that’s undesirable, and the difficulties one goes through while in this situation. I believe that this feeling can be applied to multiple contexts which I feel is interesting to think about.”
