New Release – From the Bones by SparraLIMB
Sparralimb is the rock / metal solo project of Rick Whitehead, a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter from Sleaford, Lincolnshire (UK).
“I have been playing in bands (guitar and bass) for nearly 30 years including Tripswitch, Saboteurs and CHAFE! I also have a post rock style project with my close friend Geoff Standeven called Plains of Silence.”
Sparralimb’s new single ‘From the Bones’ is out 13th August. A pre-save is available.
What’s the song about?
“The song ‘From the Bones’ is about the lies we tell ourselves and others to keep going. The things we hide from others and the truths that always come to back to haunt us and knock us down. It is also about giving everything you’ve got to something, your absolute all whether you really believe in it or not.”
When did you write it?
“The song is a true patchwork of songs and ideas from the last ten years or more. Some elements are from a song called ‘Full Circle’, which I wrote for my wife Laura back in 2011. Other musical elements are from a Saboteurs demo which I wrote back in 2016. I took all these elements and stitched them together earlier this year and persuaded my wife Laura to sing on it.”
What’s your favourite memory of writing and/or recording?
“My favourite memory is getting my wife Laura to sing on it as she was so very nervous and it was so awesome seeing her confidence grow. I hope she does some more for me.”
Is the release accompanied with a music video?
“I am hoping to have a music video created by Mammas Maiden Studio. She has done a few for me now and they are always fantastic! It will hopefully be on my YouTube channel and theirs too on day of release.”
When releasing a new single is there a sense of excitement or panic?
“Definitely both, but mainly panic. I am a very fearful person so when I do these things I often ask myself what the hell I was thinking?”
