New Release – Even If It Kills Me by Charlie PS
Vancouver-based (Canada) Charlie PS has a sound that can be described as a sonic melting pot. Inspired by a wide variety of rock and blues from legends of the 20th century such as Stevie Nicks and Ann Wilson, to modern rock artists that include Grace Potter and ZZ Ward, Charlie borrows elements of strong vocals and energetic riffs and uses them to create her own blended sound rooted in modern-rock.
Her latest single and title track off her upcoming EP ‘Even If It Kills Me’ takes its dynamic chorus, layered with an ensemble of vocals and live horns and its modern rock inspired instrumentation and calls out to the risk takers and the secretly insecure, reminding them that sometimes it’s okay to just be you.
“The idea for ‘Even If It Kills Me’ came in August 2022 after I had spent the months prior writing as many songs as possible in preparation for a new EP, ‘Even If It Kills Me’ being the last to be written. In the moment of writing it, it was the first time in a long time that I had felt truly at peace with where I was at on a personal level. I then sat to choose which songs I thought would work best together with the new EP in mind, later discovering that my choices were all connected by each telling a story of the different ‘bad habits’ that I had overcome through the last few years, with ‘Even If It Kills Me’ being the song that tied them all together.”
“My song ‘Even If It Kills Me’ is inspired after much self-work and going from being a chronic pessimist to being in a much more peaceful and carefree headspace, as well as the notion of persevering through things that you love to do, even if they aren’t always easy. I feel that a lot of people agonize over their flaws and insecurities or just care too much and want to change into a version of themselves they think will make them happier, but I hope this song helps remind people that being the realest version of yourself and showing the world the good, the bad and the ugly is a much more freeing place to be in.”
“The song will be accompanied by the official music video that will be available on my Youtube channel ‘CharliePSMusic’ also on August 11th.”
“The video shoot day was one of those perfect days where everything just fell together and I spent the entire day with a huge smile on my face and wishing it would never be over. I gathered together a big group of my friends, hired a friends production company ‘Ranch Boy Productions’, threw a big house party and spent the shoot having an incredible time being the realest and most shameless versions of ourselves, a notion that I hope that people take away for themselves after listening to ‘Even If It Kills Me’.”
‘Even If It Kills Me’ is out 11th August. Pre-save here. It’s the second of three singles to be released this year in advance of a five song EP in November and follows ‘Revival’ a story of personal restoration, oozing with crunchy, blues-rock guitar riffs and fiercely melodic gang vocals.
