New Release – Do or Die by Sofia Nunzia
Sofia Nunzia is a 14-year-old singer-songwriter who has been making music since before she started speaking. She lived in the southern United States for most of her life before relocating to New England in 2019. Unique among teen singer-songwriters, her music style can best be classified as “nostalgia country music”, with influences from 1990s country music and classic Motown. A high school student, Sofia plans to pursue both music and science, with plans for a future career as a “singer-scientist”.
Sofia will release her debut single on 17th September. There’s no pre-save link, but links to the song on all major platforms will be available here on the release date.
“This will be my first single, so I am excited for people to hear my song with all of the instruments, instead of just me and my keyboard. My goal is for people to like my music so much that they learn the songs and sing along. As a songwriter, one of the best feelings is when people sing along! That is when you know that the song really connected with them.”
“I wrote ‘Do or Die’ in 2020, when I was stuck at home after schools shut down because of the pandemic. I was 13 and struggling to stay positive while feeling isolated and afraid. One day, I just sat at my keyboard and poured it all into a song. The lyrics are about changing your perspective and making the best of a difficult situation. I sang it a lot during lockdown, and I think it helped me. I did make some happy memories, even during that tough time.”
“The song was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee at Little Richardson Studio. It was my first time doing any professional recording. The producer is Adam Ollendorff, who I already knew from a program I attended at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Other talented musicians I got to work with on the song were Tim Lauer, Fred Eltringham, Adam Keafer, and Kristen Rogers. The whole recording experience was incredible, especially the chance to learn from everyone.”
