New Release – Definition Of A Dweeb by Andre Pettipas and The Giants

Nova Scotia (Canada) based rock band Andre Pettipas and The Giants are a rarity – an act who absolutely refuse to let anything take the fun out of their creative process performances on record or on stage, and with absolutely no fear of stopping outside the box to get their message across. Vulnerability and growth; being honest with yourself and not burying the past without dealing with it. Building from the success of their sophomore album ‘No Fools No Fun’ the band took 13 new tracks into Canadian heroes, The Tragically Hip’s studio, The Bathouse to record their third studio release, ‘Under Control’ which is set for a July release. The tracks highlight important matters such as alcohol dependency, love, loss and self-awareness.

The upcoming single ‘Definition Of A Dweeb’ is the first single of their new album ‘Under Control’.

“This song along with the entire album was split into two recording studios. In the summer of 2022 we recorded 13 bed tracks at our Canadian Heroes, The Tragically Hip’s studio (The Bathouse) in Bath, Ontario. We spent four days and three nights at the studio and captured the core of the tracks there. In November 2022 we had our producer, Brian Moncarz (Alice Cooper, Our Lady Peace, The Tea Party) fly into Nova Scotia so we could finish the album on our home turf. We spent the week at Shoebox Studios in New Glasgow nailing out overdubs and vocals for the album. Brian then mixed the album in Ontario and we had it mastered by Randy Merrill (Foo Fighters, Harry Styles, Adele).”

“I see ‘Definition Of A Dweeb’ featured on a show like Degrassi Junior High or Saved By The Bell; those 90s teen dramas that we all loved growing up. When writing this song I had that in mind visually the whole time. Musically it has that late 90s/early 2000s pop/rock sound that is a huge influence in our sound. The 90s as a whole encapsulates about 90% of who we are as a band.”

“The music video will be released on June 9th (a week after the DSP and radio release of the single). We had my 15 year old nephew play a highschool version of me during it and cannot wait for everyone to see the video. It will be available on our YouTube channel. Do us a favour and hit subscribe. We would be forever grateful!”

“Ever since we wrote the song we felt like it was a strong one musically. It’s been a crowd favourite in our live show and also one of our favourites to play. It’s got a big chorus and fun twists and turns throughout. We felt like it showcased our sound the best while highlighting important issues (bullying and mental health) which you’ll get a deeper meaning of the song after the music video is released.”

“The album art is simply the definition of what a “Dweeb” is. The design was done in-house and we wanted the visual to look super 90s. I also added our band name done in the “Parental Discretion” sticker to further that vibe.”

Definition Of A Dweeb’ is out 2nd June. A pre-save link is available here.
