Blake Sonnet has released a song every month in the past year. Could You Be Someone’ will be released on Christmas Eve. A pre-save is available.

What’s the song about?

“It’s a coming of age song from the prospective of a parental figure. Trying to understand what is of real value in life despite what appears fashionable.”

What inspired you to write this song?’

“That parenting is older than flowers. I heard this on a recent podcast and it blew me away. That looking after and guiding offspring has been around a very very long time. And that for most it is instinctive. The world is a tough and ruthless place and the role of a guardian is to be a proxy for the real world. Human beings have to endure a lot in a lifetime. And that actually it’s impossible to make a mistake so just go for it.”

Is this release different from your previous releases?

“I think it’s a little naked in terms of production. It’s me live in one take sat at a beautiful old piano with a Cellist.”

What can you tell me about the cover art?

“The photo was taken of the sky at a concert in Hyde Park London. Bob Dylan & Neil Young 2020. What I was amazed by was that the average age demographic was early 20’s. Neil and Bob could be there Grandads! Pretty cool grandads! In a way these people are the musical parents for these kids. Neil Young was brilliant by the way.”
