New Release – Beyond the Tide by Laura Kelsey: Laura Kelsey is a Nanaimo (Canada), art-folk artist who has fronted everything from death metal to blues bands and who is now performing as a solo musician. Laura wrapped a busy 2022 summer of performing at festivals like Islands Folk Festival (Duncan) and Sonic Summer Nights (Vancouver), and was the opening act for Matthew Good on his fall 2022 solo tour of Vancouver Island. Her single ‘Your Stormy Ways’ was released in October 2022.

Her first single of 2023 ‘Beyond the Tide’ will be out 27th January. A pre-save is available here. ‘Beyond the Tide’ is the second single off of Laura’s upcoming debut EP Hunting Season’, releasing this spring. The EP’s songs were recorded in July 2022.

‘Beyond the Tide’ was written by Laura Kelsey and produced by Winston Hauschild at Treehouse Studio on Bowen Island, B.C.

“The song verges on psychedelic rock, swinging between a laid back day in the ocean to being pummeled by the waves.”

“The song dives into finding out “who ain’t real and what is true” and the stark reality that can be waiting on the other side of illusion. Besides life experiences lending inspiration, ‘Beyond the Tide’ also draws from the natural landscape of Vancouver Island.”

“The ‘Beyond the Tide’ music video will also premiere 27th January and features a special “silver” guest who accompanies me on a seaward journey in a rowboat.”

The video was filmed by Laura and filmmaker Jessie Zhang on Protection Island, B.C. in August 2022.
