New Release – Bad Moon Rising by Mulholland Jive

Mulholland Jive is an instrumental funk-rock project by Irish musician Ben Mulholland, a multi-instrumentalist and composer based in Cambridge (UK). His debut EP Intergalactic was released in April 2021 and has been streamed over 16,000 times since. The tracks Adrenaline Junkie and Levitate are currently in the semi finals of the UK Songwriting Contest. Levitate was also nominated for Track Of The Year at the NMG Awards and finished in the top five.

On November 12th his new single ‘Bad Moon Rising’ will be out. A pre-save is available here.

How would you describe it?

“Bad Moon Rising is an adrenaline-fuelled mix of explosive guitar, infectious drums and piano solos played at break-neck speed. It perfectly encapsulates the Mulholland Jive sound; lively, catchy, piano-heavy, instrumental funk-rock.”

Where was it recorded and mixed?

“North Acre Recording Studio by Jake Day. Jake is also the guitarist in Tom Lumley and the Brave Liaison so I was keen for him to bring a bit of a rockier edge to this track, which he definitely did!”

When releasing a new single is there a sense of excitement or panic?

“Definite excitement! I wrote Bad Moon Rising back in August 2020 and have been playing it with students ever since. They seem to like it so it’s exciting to finally release it officially and hope that it finds a wider audience.”
